Joelene Shaw,
Fitness Instructor Specialist

When I first joined a fitness centre six years ago, I thought walking through the front door would be the scariest thing I would ever do and the goals I had set for myself in the beginning seemed big enough; - To quit smoking, after 10 years of trying - To get out of bed each morning without feeling tired, sore and out of breath.

Over the past six years I have come to realize that when given the proper care and exercise our bodies can help us to achieve more than our minds could ever imagine. Since I started living a healthier lifestyle, I have accomplished things I never thought possible or dared to dream; - I successfully quit smoking six years ago - I found a love of exercise that inspired me to become a CAN-FIT Pro Group Fitness Instructor - I took part in a beginner running program and found a passion for running that led me to run my first half-marathon last year - Most of all I have achieved a higher self-esteem and overall happiness - inside and out.
I have come to terms with how I once treated my body and now looking forward, I try to make it up to myself one day at a time. Today I lead by example and through my group fitness classes I hope that you will find the inspiration to make positive changes to your lifestyle and maybe inspire someone else to do the same.

Vanessa Coggan,
Fitness Instructor

The journey of becoming a fitness instructor all began when Vanessa finally decided to commit to a 5K run in April of 2010 and began training in January of that year. That first 5K lead to a sprint triathlon later that summer and then certification as a fitness instructor specialist with CanFit Pro in 2011. Never really known as an athletic girl, she is amazed at how far that first goal of a 5K has taken her and of what she has accomplished. It has become her passion to share that feeling of accomplishment with others and she loves to help them see what they are capable of too. The best part about this whole journey for Vanessa has been seeing the positive effects of her lifestyle change not only affect the lives of her husband and three young children but her parents as well who too have made some major lifestyle changes. Living a more balanced and healthy lifestyle has brought a new found happiness into Vanessa’s life and she can’t wait to share it with you!

Debbie Goodwin,
CanFitPro Fitness Instructor Specialist

Debbie’s interest in the fitness world has been a slow, but steady development of growth.  In her early 20’s she was a member of the fitness center located in her office building, and was a volunteer in the weight room area.  After having children she continued with her own fitness program which included speed walking, step videos and a free weight regimen.  Her personal regimen helped immensely with weight control, flexibility and her overall feeling of well-being.  In 2010, Debbie thought she would try a “Learn to Run” program and was incredibly pleased when she completed her first 5km run.  She was glad she had tried something new!  The thought of becoming a fitness instructor had never crossed her mind until interest and encouragement from her own family seemed to be increasing at a continual rate.  In September 2011, Debbie became a certified Fitness Instructor Specialist through CanFitPro.  She is now excited to share her experience and knowledge with you.  Debbie’s message to you is “Never be afraid to come out of your comfort zone and try something new!”
