12 Day of Fitness Challenge – Day 2

On the 2nd day of fitness, your challenge is . . . a 2 minute wall squat and a 1 minute plank. 

A wall squat is a great exercise which targets the muscles of the glutes, back, abdomen and thighs. To perform the exercise, stand against a wall with your legs extended out.  Your feet should be about two feet from the wall and shoulder width apart.  Slowly slide down the wall until you are at a ninety degree seated position against the wall.  Hold the position for 2 minutes.  If you feel any discomfort in your knees, adjust your feet out so that you feel no pain.  You should not feel any discomfort in your knees at any point during the exercise. 

Today’s holiday tip is to ensure you stay hydrated throughout the holidays.  As we rush around during this busy season, sometimes we forget to get in enough water during the day.  If you are out and about running errands, be sure to bring along your water bottle and keep sipping away throughout the day.  We often indulge in more salty snacks and meals this time of year as well leaving us feeling dry and dehydrated. If you are consuming more salt than you are used to, be sure to up your fluid intake to compensate.
