A Co-Op Student’s Perspective

By Marcia Floyd, HHS Grade 12 Student

My Cooperative Education experience at Lifestyles Health & Wellness Center has been a huge eye opener to say the least. I have always been interested in the health field but since working at Lifestyles, my knowledge has expanded extensively. I have gotten to participate in the canfitpro personal training course held at Lifestyles and taught by Tara Daye. This was an amazing opportunity for me as I am attending UNBF in the fall for a bachelor of Kinesiology. I have gotten to shadow personal trainers Janice McCurdy and Tara Daye during their sessions with clients. I am thankful to have gotten the chance to assist Debbie Doiron and Sherry Lawless in a children’s dryland program this spring. During my time at Lifestyles I have also gotten to explore my creative outlet by creating motivational posts, promotions and advertisements for Lifestyles social media pages.

I have gotten to work with some amazing women who have inspired me to work hard and pursue my dreams. I am extremely thankful Jen Gendron welcomed me to her team this semester. My time at Lifestyles has mentally and emotionally prepared me for University, I now have a better understanding of the movement of the body as well as overall wellness. There are always new ideas flowing in and out of the center. Jen is always willing to take on any projects and is constantly looking for ways to improve Lifestyles for the members.

I cannot express enough how refreshing it has been to be in a positive atmosphere every single day. I will miss everyone so much.
