Finding Balance to Live a Healthy Life

As the owner of a fitness centre, personal trainer & health coach, people often assume that I “have it all together” and that health and fitness come naturally to me as part of my every day routine. What most people don’t realize is that behind the scenes, I often struggle.

I struggle to stay on track with my fitness routine.

I struggle to eat well on a regular basis.

And most of all, I struggle to manage my stress levels.

The picture I share in this post is from six months ago on opening day of our new location. On the outside, I was trying hard to appear happy but on the inside, I was falling apart! I had been working 14-16 hour days running my business and then spending the evenings painting, sanding and doing whatever I could to try to speed things along with the renovation of the new building meanwhile, I was also experiencing some major unexpected stressors at home.
So . . . on the outside, I might have appeared as the girl who had things all under control but when I look at this picture, I see the strain that the six months leading up to that day had caused and shortly after our opening day, I crashed completely!

I was an emotional train wreck, my energy levels were at an all-time low, I was feeling irritable, unhappy and most of all, exhausted – ALL THE TIME!

The stress that I had put myself under had finally taken its toll – I reached the point where I couldn’t even get through my workouts – my body just didn’t have the energy!

The reason I am sharing this with you is that I want you to know that when other women share with me about their struggles with stress, not having time to eat well, exercise, take care of themselves . . . I understand. I REALLY understand!

I have spent the last six months making major life changes to get myself back on track and learn how to slow things down and make the time that I need for myself in order to live the healthy, vibrant life that I want not only for myself, but that I want to instill in all of my clients!

I have learned about adrenal fatigue and have learned ways to manage my symptoms and find the energy I need to get through the day.

I have learned to listen to my body and to recognize that in order to be the best mom, wife, boss, friend that I can be, I need to take care of myself first and foremost – if you are not taking care of you, there is nothing left for all the other people in your life that need you – this is so true!
